We’re looking for a hands-on, talented, and innovative engineer with experience designing and implementing products and product components and providing directions to the team to join Dell EMC’s DPD. The visibility is very high and the work environment is fun, extremely challenging, and gives you a great sense of satisfaction!

Summary of Responsibilities:

  • Produces design and solution documentation in addition to providing guidance to junior staff

  • Actively involves in design and implementation of major projects often in a lead capacity

  • Regularly interacts with supervisors, peers and senior and junior staff from geographically separated work sites and collaborate well to get job done

  • Works with Architects helping build product and implementation strategies

  • Keeps an eye on parallel developments within and outside immediate functional organization to leverage best in class technologies and processes to accomplish goals

  • Frequently contributes to the development of new theories and methods

  • Employs expertise as a generalist or specialist

  • Develops resolutions to complex problems that require the frequent use of creativity

  • Uses judgment within broadly defined policies and practices

  • Anticipates change and directs or redirects efforts, keeps management informed

  • Work is accomplished without considerable direction

  • Exerts significant latitude in determining objectives of assignment

  • Interacts with management and senior customer personnel on matters requiring coordination across organizational lines

Required skills:

  • Ability to take a concept from scratch, design and implement large and complex protection solutions end to end

  • Ability to provide technical directions to a small to mid-sized team

  • Storage array experience (e.g., EMC, IBM NetApp, and Hitachi) or Protection software experience or experience building Converged or Hyper-converged appliance

  • Experience working with Product Management and Architects driving concepts to solutions

  • Hands on coding experience in C/C++ and/or Java and debugging skills under Linux, UNIX and Windows

  • Experience with Metadata Catalog, File management, Storage management

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to collaborate with geographically dispersed teams

  • Hands on experience writing thread safe code

  • Ability to identify more than one solution to a business case and summarize pros and cons with recommendation

  • Proven ability to analyze 3rd party software and technologies while planning for major feature deliveries

Major Pluses/Desired Skills:

  • Experience with Virtualization products and de-duplication technologies

  • Good overall understanding of backup, recovery, snapshot, and replication technologies

  • Proven ability to develop software in agile and conventional models

  • Hands on experience building Cloud enabled Protection Software and Services.

  • Experience building RESTful microservices

  • Development experience with Golang programming language

Education and Experience:

Typically requires 8+ years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 6+ years with a Master’s degree; or 3+ years with a PhD; or equivalent experience
