Software Principal Engineer - Remote US

What you’ll achieve

As a team member, you will design and develop software associated with network switching products and network management systems; drive product development and test programs with internal and external partners to ensure maximum product quality and schedule fidelity; deliver various software features from the internal development teams to the Open Source community in the Azure/SONiC project.

You will:

  • Scope, plan, and develop software features and scalable frameworks for an embedded networking OS in a container-based architecture.

  • Work on integrations with network management systems and automation solutions beyond simple CLI scripting, leveraging things like OpenConfig data models, REST API, gNMI, Ansible, etc.

  • Write functional and vigorous tests to ensure sustained quality.

  • Work with external partners in the Open Source community who are developing platforms and software features in SONiC.

  • Communicate clearly and effectively with Business Development and Support to derive real-world solutions to meet our customers’ needs.

  • Be an effective team player who works well with a remote team by being self-driven, communicating frequently, and staying accountable.

Essential Requirements

  • Programming languages: C/C++, Python, Golang

  • Tools: Git, GDB debugger, GCC compiler, Linux (dev environment), Makefile, Redis

  • Technologies: Docker, networking protocols at all layers, YANG, OpenConfig, REST, gRPC

  • Masters’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field of study plus 3 years of experience in the job offered or 3 years of experience as a Software Engineer or related occupation. Alternatively, a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field of study plus 5 years of experience in the job offered or 5 years of experience as Software Engineer.
