Dell EMC Isilon’s Engineering Automation and Tools team is looking for an experienced and innovative Principal Engineer to guide the development and implementation of our next-generation virtual infrastructure and Platform-as-a-Service environments.
The “EAT” Team accelerates the Isilon product development lifecycle by providing a rich, stable framework for every phase of that process and iteratively improving the features, performance, and stability of the tools that drive it, as well as the foundation upon which those tools rest.
Guide the requirements gathering, design, specification, administration and implementation of VMWare, Kubernetes, and other development and deployment platforms.
Drive platform adoption by the Engineering Automation and Tools group and its customers in the larger Engineering organization with guidelines, best practices, tutorials, and one-on-one advocacy.
Orchestrate, Deploy, and Maintain critical infrastructure and services, while driving automation of those tasks.
Develop and drive uptime, utilization, and performance metrics to enable continuous improvement.
Contribute to unit, integration, and end-to-end test plans.
Provide hands-on support to the engineering organization.
BS in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience
6+ years of experience in production environments
Experience with DevOps methodology, including infrastructure-as-code and CI/CD workflows
Experience with virtualization, container, and container orchestration technologies (VMWare, Docker, and Kubernetes preferred)
Ability to deliver in one or more appropriate development languages (Python preferred)
Solid Unix system administration knowledge and experience.
Well organized, responsible, and dedicated, with the ability to work on multiple projects.
Self-learning, able to learn new tools quickly and work in a fast-evolving environment.
Excellent Cross Team Communication skills, including the ability to abstract and refine technical requirements from business needs.
Ability to work in a team environment.
