Product Document Management is key to deploying and managing product data for Dell products’ initial release and any engineering changes that follow. The team is also crucial to managing products and peripheral components though product release and the associated change activities post release. Put simply, they help to keep our game-changing products at their ground-breaking best. Along the way, the team works directly with diverse functions to help guide project management in the definition, design, building and shipping of systems configuration requirements.

The Lead Specialist, Product Document Management will be responsible for understanding and working toward maintaining the data integrity and accuracy of Material Master data, a core component of Dell’s SAP deployment. This role will be geared specifically toward the creation and maintenance of quality NPI Master Data to support all downstream processes/systems.

A good Lead Specialist, PDM will possess technical expertise and an understanding of how the Material Master is core to the operation of SAP. This role will also work with other key PDM team members to define Master Data attributes and impact across the corporation.

The Lead Specialist, PDM must be a self-starter with the ability to accomplishes goals with guidance but also with little supervision or direction. They must also have a sense of urgency and the proven ability to deliver results. Excellent communication skills are also a key trait as they will work closely many groups involved with New Product Introduction, including Sales, IT, R&D, Customer Service, and Manufacturing.

A solid understanding of basic SAP Material Master Principles is required including such items as material types, material views, extending materials for use during the build and fulfillment processes and also configuring material for procurement, sale and build/assembly. The ideal candidate for this position has experience with managing workflow and using bulk load capabilities to accelerate the creation and update of materials using tools such as WinShuttle. Agile experience is a plus.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Lead Specialist, PDM will focus on using core Material Master Functionality along with SAP’s Product Lifecycle Management Application to do the following:

• Understand NPI Master Data Attributes and how they will be applied across EMC NPI’s along with how they impact downstream systems/processes.

• Creation of Master Data Attribute Use Cases as they will apply to EMC NPI’s

• Own the Quality of Materials and BOM information and it’s suitability for downstream processes through business and data quality rules.

• Monitor and Improve the quality of the NPI Master Data process via audits and corrective actions.

• Close collaboration with partners across Dell/Dell EMC to support New Products and Services

• Document and create training and procedural documents

• Lead the development of operational measurements.

• Lead the development and analysis of key metrics and statistics to optimize efficiency of operational resources.

• Prepares reports and conducts trending analysis / root cause analysis and communicates to appropriate stakeholders.

• Analyzes processes and makes recommendations for improvement.
