Dell Principal Hardware Engineer in Shanghai, China
The duties include:
Single point of contact, collaborate with ISG product teams co-architecting and delivering industry leading storage/CI appliances built on PSE’s purpose built platforms, PowerEdge servers, Dell EMC Networking and open market technologies.
Additionally, SE will provide critical expertise and insight on key industry technologies and trends, and offer linkage with Software System Engineering’s software functions, as well as support and collaborate with the Platform Hardware Engineering Team
Using strong business experience to manage a multi team environment, lead the definition, specification generation, scheduling, design review and qualification of the solution. This includes but not limited to facilitating platform & system architecture discussion with the Business Unit, as well as overseeing various HW, FW, and manufacturing issues as they arise, and drive them to closure
Provide technical leadership and program direction to development peers and partners/suppliers during the lifecycle of product development. Initiate and drive supplier task execution in meeting goals set during the product definition phase for cost, schedule, and performance.
Concept development and idea generation for future product families.
Participate in defining and be accountable for metrics on function vs. cost, schedule, reliability, efficiency and performance for products developed, and be involved with program management in the planning and tracking of resources and schedules. Effective communication skill in a global environment is a key requirement for the position.
Contributing to the technical solutions required for the product. This includes making system level power architecture design recommendations, having a good knowledge and understanding of modern data center architecture, Intel based PCB architecture and roadmap, as well as basic knowledge of BIOS, POST, BMC and FW.
Travel (both domestic and international) is occasionally required to attend technology conferences, visit customer/vendor sites

The position reports into a departmental-level manager.
8 to 12 years minimum in hardware engineering, with strong emphasis in high speed cables, SI, program management and vendor communication
General knowledge and application of engineering concepts.
Ability to influence others to achieve results.
Project management skills.
Understanding of business environment.
Ability to lead, motivate and direct a workgroup.
Ability to work in a team environment.
BSEE minimum, with emphasis in high speed cable design. MSEE is desirable, but not required
