What you will achieve
As a Principal Software Engineer, you will work as part of PowerScale’s Cloud and Foundation engineering team to design and implement our next generation storage. PowerScale is a Scale-out NAS, Unstructured Storage solution of Dell Infrastructure Solutions Group. PowerScale is in the business of transforming the way data is stored. At the forefront of the big data movement, our highly parallelized, distributed architecture has completely redefined the storage model. We enable our thousands of customers to work at a scale that wasn't previously possible by shipping a true clustered file system that can be expanded from a few dozen terabytes up to many petabytes. Our goal is to package game changing technology, un-paralleled scalability, and record-breaking performance into a product that is utterly simple to manage and continuously delights our customers. You are an engineer who contribute fresh ideas to the areas of storage, networking and distributed systems. You will be asked to identify and solve unique problems presented by PowerScale’s scale-out architecture.
Build our network attached storage platform & solutions, systems and infrastructure using your strong background in network and distributed systems
Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and enhance software solutions
Work full stack, from the kernel/device level to user space daemons, scripts and utilities
Manage individual projects priorities, deadlines and deliverables
Consult and collaborate with other developers and QA engineers within the PowerScale distributed system architecture

BA/BS degree in Computer Science or a related technical field or equivalent practical experience
7+ years experiences of C/C++ developing on Unix/Linux/BSD operating systems
Experience with scripting languages such as Python, PERL, bash shell
Experience with networking technologies (e.g., TCP/IP layer 2/3, UDP, NAT, QoS, IPV4, IPV6, VLANs, routing protocols, etc.)
Strong debugging skills
Extensive understanding of multithreaded, asynchronous, kernel-mode programming concepts with hands-on experience on FreeBSD or other POSIX/UNIX operating systems
Experience working Network Virtualization and/or Software Defined Networking (SDN) as well as on public/private/hybrid cloud; experience working on and shipping a storage product is a big PLUS
