Portfolio System Engineer

Dell’s Portfolio System Engineering Team is responsible for driving innovation into Dell’s Enterprise portfolio of products. We are a key development partner designing and integrating key building block elements of the server portfolio. We mature concepts into system designs that are ultimately implemented across multiple platforms. The team members are subject matter experts in a wide array of cutting-edge technologies with a proven track record of designing portfolio-wide system designs that demonstrate an innovative approach to solving customer problems and advancing technology boundaries.

What you’ll achieve

As a Portfolio System Engineer, you will negotiate and integrate stakeholder input to design customer focused and market-oriented portfolio technologies to differentiate DellEMC Server portfolio, deliver to platform and enable teams through direct engagement & negotiation, specifications, tools, and other systems engineering implementation collateral.

You will:

  • Design, modify and evaluate embedded system to build electronic equipment and other hardware systems for server platforms.

  • Write embedded system software to automate the validating of a platform sub-system

  • Improve debug capability from manual process to automation and enhance programmable firmware release CI/CD process and quality

  • Assist in the design review of server platform board designs based on latest x86 server architecture

  • Be proactive and reach across team boundaries to get things done

Essential Requirements

  • Good knowledge of programming languages; operating systems; firmware; BIOS; device drivers; databases; system, network, operating system, and application administration; embedded software/firmware; tools and utilities, as applicable

  • Knowledge of server, storage, networking and computer architectures like x86 and ARM

  • Ability to code/debug moderately sophisticated programs using design specifications with programming language like Bash, Python, Perl, C/C++ and object-oriented methodologies

  • Fluency in English language. Comfortable with communicating in both English and Chinese.

  • Experience with development in Embedded Linux and libraries/applications using micro-controllers, CPLD, FPGA, analog and digital system design is a plus.

Desirable Requirements

  • Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Computer Science Engineering, graduate within one year (2020/2021 graduation)
