Antenna Design Sr. Principal Engineer

The Antenna Design Engineer will champion designs of wireless antenna's focusing on WiFi, Cellular, GPS/GLO systems across Dell platforms. They will be required to engage cross functional teams composed of Mechanical/ID/EE/RF to ensure suitable inclusion of wireless antenna's is achieved. With subject matter expertise the ideal candidate will also provide technical expertise to the broader wireless design organization to properly select technologies, vendors/suppliers and strategy for antenna offerings in Dell products.

Leads all antenna design activities, process and test plans. Works with Cross Functional Team members which can include Marketing, Finance, External Partners, Antenna Design, RF Design & Desense and wireless carriers.

Other responsibilities include:

  • Heavy R&D activities designing antenna solutions

  • Works with suppliers to evaluate antenna solutions for future technologies

  • Works with design teams to resolve any wireless system issues that impact user performance

  • Executes early design evaluations in anechoic and reverb chambers for OTA performance across wireless technologies

  • Understanding technical issues and driving them to closure by bringing together key stakeholders for decision making

  • Subject matter expert in wireless technologies like WiFi, Cellular and GPS/GLO


  • Previous product design involvement with WiFi and/or Cellular technologies (minimum of 7 yrs.)

  • Masters in Electrical Engineering, Electromagnetics, Physics; PhD preferred

  • Strong RF/Antenna technical background in WiFi and Cellular technologies

  • Previous OTA test experience with anechoic, reverb, channel emulators and fading equipment

  • Antenna design experience in handset or consumer products

  • Self-starter and proactive with demonstrated creative and critical thinking capabilities

  • Excellent written and oral communications at the executive level

  • Contributions in wireless industry forums a plus (WiFi Alliance, 3GPP, GCF, CTIA, among others)
