Dell Front End Program Manager in Taipei, Taiwan
As part of the Client Procurement organization, the FE GCM is responsible for driving cost prediction & optimization initiatives in the concept and define phases (ex. assessing specifications, designs, feature sets, supply chain design,...etc.) that involve driving down costs while delivering the mechanical and electrical architecture desired. The FE GCM must possess strong technical aptitude to collaborate with system architects & engineers on cost optimized designs & specifications across the functional subsystems. Understanding of design elements in mechanical and electrical assembly is important. The FE GCM also provides engagement and analytical support for product innovation activities in NPI phases. Participates in global procurement initiatives and strives to continually improve business processes and procedures. The FE GCM should also have the ability to build strong, long lasting business relationships internally and externally. Strong presentation and persuasion skills with an ability to clearly communicate across all levels of the organization is also desired.
Knowledge of computer system architecture, and understanding the impacts on overall system design
Very good knowledge of hardware & software technologies, including market dynamics
Develop and utilize Cost Modeling tools along with known market conditions to estimate should be cost when assessing design trade-offs
Develop overall business case recommendations for innovation initiatives by leading and collaborating with x-functional team
Drive cost optimization opportunities in effort to drive down total cost while delivering the mechanical and electrical architecture desired
Analyze and identify potential architectural challenges (NUDDs - New, Unique, Difficult, and Different) through working with SQE, suppliers, etc
Drive different levels of DFx in an effort to optimize cost and enable challenging design solutions
Pull together product level cost view at Concept phase exit and again at Define Phase exit
Get global procurement alignment on product level views
Attend competitive teardowns and identify opportunities on how we line up to competition, and drive those opportunities into our future generation programs
Program manage advanced engineering, marketing and procurement teams to provide a given set of deliverables and drive to a timeline
Drive cost optimization procurement specific deliverables such as Total Cost Matrix and Cost Bridges
Influence the sourcing strategy by calling out the industry overview, supply chain, cost position and recommendation for Dell management strategy
Understand design elements in mechanical assembly and manufacturing process to identify cost drivers
Good English communication skills
Proficient PP & Excel skills
Ability to develop strategic POV for carcass and system level cost
Ability to create and maintain relationships with Marketing and Engineering stakeholders
ME or Electrical Engineering degree/experience
GCM or Operation background/experience
