Server Mechanical System Principal Engineer

We design and develop electronic and electro-mechanical or systems-orientated products, conduct feasibility studies on engineering proposals and prepare installation, operation and maintenance specifications and instructions. What you’ll achieve

As a Principal Systems Development Engineer, you will design, define and implement complex system requirements for customers and prepare studies and analyses of existing systems. Deliver assigned system interfaces with design and process across extended teams and prepare documentation for inspection/testing procedures.

You will:

  • Design, develop and implement cost effective methods of testing and troubleshooting systems and equipment

  • Prepare test and diagnostic programs, design test fixtures and equipment and complete specifications and procedures for new products

  • Need a systems level approach, understanding the mechanical/thermal/electrical aspects of various server architectures, with the ability to find issues quickly and propose resolutions

  • Run multiple programs at a time, with minimal direction and input from management. Own complex projects with ambiguous requirements and aggressive timelines

  • Need excellent communication skills, requiring frequent high level updates to management, with the ability to drive team meetings on a consistent basis

Essential Requirements

  • 8 to 12 years of related experience with a bachelor’s degree or 6+ years with a master’s degree

  • Advanced understanding of appropriate system architectures

  • Deep knowledge of hardware and software interactions, and ability to apply this understanding to resolve issues

  • 3D Mechanical design of components/parts, with ability to assemble and run FEA, preferably using Creo/Pro-E. Strong problem solving skills from a mechanical and structural POV

  • Create test plans, simulations, and use cases to ensure new rack packaging and new server architectures are production quality

Desirable Requirements

  • Liquid cooling background a plus

  • Rack and Server knowledge a plus
