Principal Systems Development Engineer

We design and develop electronic and electro-mechanical or systems-orientated products, conduct feasibility studies on engineering proposals and prepare installation, operation and maintenance specifications and instructions. What you’ll achieve

As a Principal Systems Development Engineer, you will design, define and implement complex system requirements for customers and prepare studies and analyses of existing systems.

You will:

  • Focus on the design of server platforms, particularly in memory, PCIe, CPLD/FPGA, system management, RAS and system architecture design.

  • Assist in the design review and debug of server platform onboard designs including high-speed buses such as USB, SAS, SATA, SerDes, Ethernet, etc.

  • Provide technical design management and coordination across the Portfolio.

  • Provide hands-on Systems Engineering expertise when appropriate. Assess, Manage, & Mitigate technology & process risks for new designs.

  • Manage, debug, and resolve defects throughout the program from initial power on to mass production on areas of ownership.

Essential Requirements

  • BA/BS degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering preferred. 8+ years’ experience in hardware or embedded system design, implementation, and debugging with processor, memory, and I/O subsystems.

  • Proven ability to work at the System design level, but also in the circuit and register space

  • Ability to make risk calls, set priority, work collaboratively in a creative environment, partner with both technical and non-technical teams and cross-functional groups

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills and excellent interpersonal interaction. Fluency in English language.

  • Demonstrate creative problem-solving approach and strong analytical skills, combined with a strong sense of ownership, and a proactive can-do attitude.

Desirable Requirements

  • M.S. degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering preferred. 8+ years’ experience in hardware or embedded system design, implementation, and debugging with processor, memory, and I/O subsystems.

  • Experience with Enterprise Intel/AMD x86 Server design, including planar and system implementations
