Thermal Principal Engineer - Mobile Workstation

Mechanical Engineering leads and delivers the development of innovative and compliant mechanical design solutions, as well as cross-functional interfaces for desktop, portable and server computer systems and peripherals. Our team conducts the analysis, feasibility studies and testing of mechanical products, instruments, subassemblies and packaging for new and existing products – and then oversees the introduction of design changes to the manufacturing organizations.

What you’ll achieve

As a Thermal Principal Engineer , you will be responsible for leading efforts of internal and external thermal development teams in all development project activities. Conducts thermal feasibility studies for new projects leveraging existing designs while also generating new designs and IP(Intellectual property). Accumulates through understanding of the thermal/mechanical development process and expert in planning and executing associated development activities.

You will:

  • Leads thermal development activities with minimal supervision on the most complex devices, subsystems and components and provides design guidance and solutions for difficult thermal issues.

  • Supports and influences integration of thermal strategy across technical disciplines internally and externally.

  • Leads and directs across products, technical disciplines and core teams on all thermal issues.

  • Viewed internally and externally as a thermal technology and tools expert (Tool: FloTherm, ProE, Solidworks)

  • ​Drive optimized performance between thermal requirement and acoustic requirement to deliver best customer experience

Essential Requirements

  • Typically requires 12+ years of related experience in a professional role with a Bachelor’s degree, or 8+ years with a Master’s degree, 5+ years with a PhD, or equivalent experience.

  • Advanced knowledge and understanding of manufacturing driven design issues

  • Advanced ability to read and understand complex drawings as well as 3D database

  • Advanced understanding of thermal technologies, vendor products, and competitor’s offerings

  • Advanced understanding of using 3D CAD(Computer Assist Design) and FloTherm thermal simulation tools

Desirable Requirements

  • Advanced ability to read and understand technical data sheets.

  • Fluent in English language (verbal and written)
