Cloud Storage Technical Support Engineer

We answer questions about the installation, operation, configuration, customization and use of Dell Technologies products. For critical matters, we use our systems to provide remote diagnostic technical support. If there’s an issue with a customer’s product, we’ll analyze it, identify the cause, recommend a solution and document the problem.

What you’ll achieve
Apply technical support expertise to resolve customer issues. Responsible for providing telephone, email, chat and remote diagnostic technical support of assigned products. Works closely with peers and coaches to increase knowledge and resolve customer issues. Identifies and provides resolutions to technical problems. Uses trouble-shooting tools, content and analytical practices to help determine best way to resolve identified and unidentified problemsAct as a remote customer advocate to champion specific customer needs for code currency, reporting and product knowledge in collaboration with field teams
As a 24x7x365 organization, shift work, holidays and on-call responsibilities; may be required once a month
Effectively communicates procedural and technical issues to internal and external customers in a fast paced and customer critical environment through a variety of mediums
Monitors and tracks all service calls, provides call status updates at regular intervals and communicates status to customers using Call Tracking Databases

Cloud Storage: Experience working with Cloud Storage technologies and related protocols like Amazon S3; Understanding of WEB hosting and service provider environments
Advanced Unix/Linux/Hardware knowledge: Administration and troubleshooting knowledge; Ability to troubleshoot disk/server problems; Fault isolation of hardware FRUs
Fundamental understanding of JAVA/WEB APIs
Networking knowledge: Knowledge in IP and routing protocols; Network APIs knowledge (Java, HTTP, REST, etc.); Knowledge of NFS, CIFS and FTP server configurations; VLAN configuration/troubleshooting
Typically requires 3+ years of related experience in a professional role with a Bachelor’s degree; or 2+ years with a Master’s degree; or a PhD without experience; or equivalent experience
Knowledge of ECS or similar Cloud Storage products
Experience working with SalesForce and JIRA incident tracking systems
Working experience with Centera, Atmos or ECS is a plus
The ability to write with scripting languages in Perl and Python is a plus
Working knowledge with Docker containers and/or Kubernetes is a plus
VMWare certification/knowledge is a plus
