We are looking for talented, driven, self-starter individuals to join our Telco Systems business unit engineering team. This role requires a demonstrated ability to conduct code development, test, and delivery for Dell’s telco products and solutions offerings. Remote Austin, TX, Boston, MA

About business unit and team

The Telco Systems BU creates products and solutions catering to the worldwide telecommunications market, which is exploding with new and exciting opportunities offered by new developments such as 5G, Internet of Things, and virtualized radio access networks (RANs). The market consists of communication service providers, managed service providers, hosting companies, content delivery network companies, cloud service providers, and consumer/enterprise web-technology providers

The solution engineering team is responsible for creating and delivering telco solutions and enabling our customers to offer services. The team works closely with a world-class product management team in defining and road-mapping the offerings. Together, we have a strong track record of creating unique value for Dell Technologies, with a robust and positive impact on its bottom line. The engineering team works closely with key service providers customers worldwide, which, taken together, represent about 70% of the market. Collaboratively, we create production-worthy offerings that are unique, cutting-edge, and shape this emerging market. With each success we achieve, we push the envelope more for our customers and then rinse and repeat!

Role and Responsibilities

  • Providing technical leadership to a team of engineers focused on architecture, research,  and test of 5G Edge solutions for Telco customers.

  • Act as a technical expert for 5G network workloads deployed across the hybrid cloud, core, edge, and RAN technologies.

  • Lifecycle management, automation, MANO, and OSS/BSS are within scope for this role.

  • Cloud-native infrastructure such as AI/ML advanced data protection techniques, containers/Kubernetes, microservices, and 5G network emulation technologies are in scope for this role.

  • This role includes interactions with Dell Telecom System Business senior management, collaboration with 5G product architects, Dell partners, and customers.

  • As a technical expert, you will help guide projects from technology ideation through delivery to customers in scope for this role

  • Staying up to speed on all current and next-generation technologies is a must.

  • Drive integration and adoption of Dell products within partner ecosystem and create a better application integration

Essential Knowledge/Skills

  • Exeperience and technical knowledge of the Telco Edge space, product architecture and solutions.

  • In-depth technical knowledge and experience in designing and deploying Telco networks using Cloud Native Software Methodologies. Demonstrable experience and expertise in Automation, Performance, Lifecycle Management, Public/Hybrid Cloud Architectures, and Technologies.

  • Self-Motivated, Enthusiastic, Energetic, and Passionate about technology and working as a part of a team. Experience working with cross-functional architectural teams.

  • Knowledge and expertise in setting test cases, including performance related, to guide the team towards an optimized solution.

  • Knowledge of CI/CD Pipelines and Development tool Experience such as - Jira, Perfecto, Pivotal Tracker, Concourse, Jenkins, and Docker. Understanding of cloud-based software technology landscapes and DevOps ecosystems.

  • Strong communication skills and an ability to articulate technical vision while understanding business requirements. The ability to collaborate even when there are difference within the team members.

  • Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent. Experience:12+ years (Bachelor’s degree), 8+years (Master’s degree) of software development, software architecture, Telco scale solution and performance testing or equivalent experience.

Desired Knowledge/Skills

  • Familiar with Data Protection, Networking and Compute Technologies, including software defined aspects.

  • Familiar with Virtualization, Big Data and Analytics, Machine Learning and AI Platforms. Familiar with Hyperscaler technologies such as AWS, Azure, and Google.

  • Experience collaborating with customers to understand the problem statement/use cases and mapping them to tangible technical requirements.
