Technical Accounting and Policy Consultant (Senior Manager equivalent)

What you’ll achieve

This is an exciting opportunity to work as part of a collaborative team with a wide range of operational and technical accounting topics and will provide opportunities to work with a broad range of people across the company.

We are looking for an experienced professional with strong accounting foundations who can lead our internal reporting initiatives with a controllers mindset and strong attention to detail but who can also pivot to lead training initiatives and policy and technical projects. This person will need to be a motivated, self-starter with commitment to quality. This person must be an excellent communicator, both verbally and written. Strong people skills are a must due to the wide range of people at differing levels this person will work with. As with all employees, we require a high level of business ethics and integrity.

Reporting

  • Lead Dell’s internal representation letter process and disclosure review committee sessions.

  • Lead Dell’s related party function and reporting as well as other internal reporting responsibilities including segment assessment, auditor independence, annual materiality calculation and assessment of prior period adjustments

Training

  • Lead Dell’s technical accounting training initiatives including quarterly technical update calls

Policy:

  • Review policies, assess impact with operating units, assist teams with application of policies, and communicate changes throughout finance and accounting

  • Provide accounting policy judgments to reflect correct reporting and meet the businesses evolving needs

Technical Accounting

  • Develop technical accounting training material for Dell Technologies technical education initiatives

  • Assist with implementation of new accounting standards

  • Assist with technical accounting for new projects, initiatives, transactions, as needed

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree in Accounting, Master’s degree preferred

  • CPA preferred

  • Minimum of 5-8 years of professional experience

  • Public accounting experience preferred

  • Preferred experience with financial presentation and disclosure and/or internal controls

  • Strong communication skills, project management skills, ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize

  • Experience in performing technical accounting research and technical writing

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills and ability to interact with all levels of an organization

  • Self-starter, capable of working independently and within a team

  • Sense of urgency. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. Flexible and adaptive
