IT Principal Software Engineer

The Software Engineering team delivers next-generation software application enhancements and new products for a changing world. What you’ll achieve

Designs, codes, tests, debugs and documents software according to Dell’s systems quality standards, policies and procedures. Analyze business needs and creates software solutions. Responsible for preparing design documentation. Prepares test data for unit, string and parallel testing. Evaluates and recommends software and hardware solutions to meet user needs. Resolves customer issues with software solutions and responds to suggestions for improvements and enhancements. Works with business and development teams to clarify requirements to ensure testability. Drafts, revises, and maintains test plans, test cases, and automated test scripts. Executes test procedures according to software requirements specifications Logs defects and makes recommendations to address defects. Retests software corrections to ensure problems are resolved. Documents evolution of testing procedures for future replication. May conduct performance and scalability testing.

You will:

  • Be a key part of the full product development life cycle of software applications

  • Investigate and resolve complex issues in connected application stack

  • Research, validate and recommend key technology decisions for the core platform

  • Developing API-driven micro-services that combine into large and complex platforms

  • Planning and executing highly parallel distributed object storage transformations and migrations

  • Maintaining automated test suites using CI/CD tools

  • Identify technical debt, derive workable plan & proposal for rewrites - technology advancements that could potentially benefit business / IT

Essential Requirements

  • Bachelors or Master’s degree in Engineering or Computer Science

  • 10+ years of Software Engineering Experience with considerable years systems re-engineering form legacy to latest technologies

  • Strong hands on programming experience in Oracle PL SQL.

  • Expertise and hands on knowledge on Table design(All types of table), joins, sub queries, views(all types of views), exceptions, Triggers, functions, Procedures, packages, bulk collect, Collections, Arrays, Index, oracle predefined packages, query fine tuning , dynamic sql.

  • Strong Understanding of the Oracle database, related utilities and tools

  • Expertise in using CI/CD pipeline for deploying database changes

  • Strong experience PL/SQL & must have worked on Procedures, Packages, triggers and query writing.

  • Strong experience in performance tuning queries and query optimization.

  • Should have participated in table and database design discussions.

Desirable Requirements

  • Good knowledge on multiple database technologies and current trends in the industry.

  • Should be able to consolidate, simplify the overall database stack in all of the config services area. ( across multiple applications )

  • Identify gaps in the database stack , implement / execute changes within all of the config services area.

  • Good written and oral communication skills

  • Software development experience in any of the Cloud (Azure/AWS)

  • Exposure to mature development processes including use of source code control systems like GIT
