Infrastructure Automation Engineer

We’re a team of experts optimizing the performance and integrity of IT infrastructure and ensuring consistency and synchronization across all infrastructure components. Alongside supporting new and existing applications, we work with other IT groups and business units to troubleshoot and resolve technical problems.

What you’ll achieve

As a Cloud Infrastructure Automation Engineer, you will be responsible for the design, implementation, and improvement of systems, services and processes that deploy, update, and maintain infrastructure supporting the Dell Digital cloud. You will work with platform engineering, data center and capacity management teams on ensuring the delivery and reliability of the on-demand cloud resources our customers need and expect.

You will:

  • Design and develop tools and services to integrate existing internal, commercial and open source products

  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to create API-driven processes

  • Develop, maintain and support system standards through configuration management, automation templates and scripting, and version control

  • Ensure appropriate system monitoring, alerting, and reporting is implemented and supported globally including uptime, performance, capacity, and utilization

  • Embrace documentation and demonstration

Essential Requirements

  • Strong scripting/programming skills (e.g. python, ruby, bash, etc.) and experience with CI/CD tools and practices

  • Production experience coding against APIs (REST) and manipulating structured data (e.g. JSON, XML, yaml, etc.)

  • Production experience with cloud configuration automation (e.g. Ansible, Salt, Vagrant, Terraform, Puppet, etc.)

  • Background in Linux administration and core services (DNS, DHCP, logging, authn/z, etc.)

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant technology degree or equivalent experience, and 8+ years systems administration/engineering of virtualized infrastructure and/or cloud services

Desirable Requirements

  • Experience with hardware config protocols (PXE, POAP, ZTP, Redfish, etc.) and day 0 deployment of physical infrastructure

  • Production experience managing one or more critical infrastructure layer(s) such as network, storage, virtualization, containers, monitoring etc.
